The art club sessions change each term, tailored to specific age groups. Each term focuses on specific art mediums to develop related skills.
Our classes promote exploration, experimentation, and building creative confidence. We value children as natural artists and provide a space for their expression to flourish. Through art, children enhance communication skills and express ideas visually. Activities cover paper mâché, collage, drawing, painting, watercolours, printmaking, sculpture, puppet making, and more.

Course Overview

- Experience with different art techniques from drawing to building, printing and more.
Our approach: These art sessions will change each term, designed specifically for the targeted age group. Children focus on different art mediums each term and develop skills related to that medium.
Our art classes promote exploration and experimenting. Although each terms is themed, your child has the freedom to create inspired by their interests. Our key aim is to help children have fun and build creative confidence.
Level: Beginner
Dates and times: Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 4pm–5:00pm term-time only.Â
What’s provided: All materials and art aprons.
What to wear: Dress for mess! We’ll provide art aprons for very messy art.
Kids’ Art Clubs are available for different age groups. Ages 4 – 7 years on a Tuesday and Wednesday and Ages 6 – 10 on a Monday.

Term 1 Sept/Oct | Watercolours

Our Term Includes
- A handmade concertina book filled with creative experiments and artwork.
- An understanding of a range of watercolour techniques and how to use them.
- Watercolour collage animal artworks inspired by nature.
- A collection of colourful 3D watercolour sea creatures.
- Increased confidence in creative expression and artistic decision-making.
- Improved observation skills through nature-inspired projects.
- The opportunity to explore, experiment, and develop their own unique artistic style.
Term 2 Nov/Dec | Puppet Making
Full details
Taking inspiration from the darker afternoons, this term children will explore the magical world of puppets, storytelling and performance. Using materials such as cardboard, string, fabric, split pins, acetate, Posca pens and glue guns, children will develop new creative skills while designing and making their own puppet characters.
From shadow puppets and finger puppets to string puppets and marionette-style characters, each session will encourage imagination, problem-solving and creative confidence.
Children will have the opportunity to build stages, create characters, explore movement and bring their stories to life through art and performance.
Our Term Includes
- Creating a cardboard box stage using collage and card-folding techniques.
- Making lolly stick puppet characters and performing a shadow puppet show.
- Designing string puppets using card, split pins and Posca pens.
- Creating an animal or character as a marionette-style puppet.
- Finishing the term with a festive making session, using glue guns and a table full of art materials to create a unique Christmas decoration to hang on the tree.
- Experience of designing, making and performing with puppets.
- An understanding of how art can be used to tell stories and create performances
Term 3 Jan/Feb | Architecture and Place
Full details
A playful way to develop spatial awareness and a sense of scale. Children develop problem-solving skills by working out how to make their creations stand up and join together. This term is always a favourite as they can explore freely with very popular glue guns (double-sided tape and glue sticks are on offer for the younger children).
What they’ll experience and take away:
- Make a playground
Learn about different joining techniques without glue. How do we turn 2D paper into a 3D structure? - Make a mini home and furniture
Imagine a home for an animal, something make-believe, or design your own home. - Bridges
Make a lollipop stick and string bridge or raft. - Spinners
Create space-inspired cardboard spinners. - Group work
We end this term with a surprise group project.

What they’ll gain from the term:
Through this term of creative exploration, children will:
- Develop spatial awareness and engineering thinking as they experiment with balance, structure, and scale, discovering how to make their creations stand tall, stable, and strong.
- Gain confidence in construction techniques, from folding and slotting paper to joining materials with tape, glue, or string.Â
- Explore imaginative design and storytelling, creating miniature worlds such as playgrounds, homes, and habitats that reflect their own ideas and personalities.
- Experiment with movement and mechanics, building bridges, rafts, and spinning creations that introduce simple physics and design principles in a playful way.
Term 4 Feb/March | `Recycled animals

Unleash your child’s imagination in a world where creativity meets sustainability! Our Recycled Animal Makers art club invites children to explore the magic of turning everyday recyclables into extraordinary works of art. Over the term, young artists will dive into hands-on projects that celebrate curiosity, problem-solving, and the joy of making.
What they’ll experience and take away:
- Carefully constructed animals
From crocodiles to chameleons and cats, it will be up to them to decide what to make and how. - Split pin animals that move
Children will design and build their own articulated creatures using split pins, cardboard, and colourful scraps. - Experimenting with 3D Art
From cardboard constructions to layered textures, children will explore how to bring their ideas to life in three dimensions. - Junk Modelling Challenge
Using an exciting mix of recycled materials, children will take on creative challenges that stretch their imagination.

Term 5 April/May | Printmaking

Patterns, presses and playful prints!
Our print press will make an appearance in this much-loved printmaking term, where children will dive into the colourful world of pattern, texture, and repetition. They’ll experiment with a variety of printmaking techniques, learning how to layer, press, and transfer designs onto both paper and fabric. Each session encourages exploration, discovery, and creative freedom, resulting in a collection of unique printed artworks to treasure.
What they’ll experience and take away:
- Stencil Prints
Learn how to design and cut stencils, then use rollers and sponges to create bold, layered prints full of colour and shape. - String Printing
Explore texture and line by dipping string into paint or ink and pulling it across paper to create surprising, organic patterns. - Scrap Stamp Shapes and Patterns
Use recycled materials to make custom stamps, experimenting with repetition and symmetry to design cards and patterned papers. - Printing on T-Shirts and Tote Bags
Transfer their designs onto fabric, creating wearable art that celebrates their individuality and creativity.
- Stencil Prints
What they’ll gain from the term:
- An understanding of printmaking techniques, from relief and stencil printing to fabric transfer.
- A sense of design and composition, as they experiment with pattern, layering, and colour mixing to achieve different visual effects.
- Confidence in creative experimentation, learning that every print is unique and that unexpected results can lead to exciting discoveries.
- A collection of personal artworks, including printed cards, fabric pieces, and collaborative prints to share and display.
Term 6 June/July | Sculpture

This term at Kids Art Club, we’ll be exploring the exciting world of 3D art and sculpture, giving children the chance to move beyond drawing and painting into building, shaping and designing their own creations.
Using tinfoil, wire, card structures and air-dry clay, children will discover how artists transform simple materials into imaginative sculptures full of character and personality.
Across the seven weeks, they’ll learn how to build strong frameworks, shape forms, add surface texture and finish their work with colour and decorative details. The focus throughout the term is on playful experimentation, problem solving and imagination, while gently introducing sculptural techniques in a fun and accessible way.
Our Term Includes
- Sculpting with Tinfoil: Creatures & Characters
Children will learn how artists use foil as a lightweight sculpting material, twisting, squashing and shaping it into animals, monsters and imaginary creatures while exploring proportion and structure. - Wire Sculptures: Drawing in the Air
Using soft sculpture wire, children will create simple line sculptures inspired by insects, plants and abstract forms, discovering how shape can exist in space. - Cardboard Sculpting
Children will design and build forest-inspired creations using card, tubes and scrap materials, experimenting with structure, balance and imagination. - Air-Dry Clay: Bringing Sculptures to Life
Children will apply air-dry clay over their frameworks, shaping features and forms, then refine their sculptures by adding patterns, textures and decorative details using tools and found objects. - Painting & Finishing
In the final stage, children will paint and decorate their sculptures, bringing them fully to life with colour and personality.

Kids Art Club for Ages 4 – 7 years are on a Wednesday at 4pm and ages 6 – 10 on a Monday at 4pm. School term time only.
