Babies explore
Kate Boyes leads our baby group, she is an early years teacher for over 30 years and has vast experience shaping the learning paths of young people across Bristol. She is a strong believer in supporting families to achieve the best possible outcomes for their children.
All of the resources are designed to stimulate and engage your baby and enhance their physical , intellectual and emotional development.
The group is a chance to spend time with your little one in a safe and beautiful space as well as socialise with other adults and children.
Treasure baskets are collections of natural and household objects which babies can explore. They help your child to focus independently and create new connections in their brain. When a baby explores with their hands and mouth feeling the different textures of objects they are learning about their world. The sounds they hear, the smells they smell all help the neural pathways to fire up! They are also practising and developing those important skills of hand eye coordination.
Messy play is just that! So please bring a change of clothes for your baby. These activities are early mark making, and again help extend concentration and learn about different sensations. The open ended nature of messy play allows freedom to explore and fosters curiosity and imagination.Again your babies brain will be sending the brain so many signals from their sensory system so it really builds these connections. Messy play also allows babies to practice different motor control movements by giving the small muscles in the hands and arms to practice different movements.
At the end of the session sing some simple songs and rhymes, often using the parachute which the babies love! They will be absorbing new vocabulary and sounds, as well as gaining confidence as they share a group experience and have fun!
