February Half Term Holiday Art Club: Collage

Main ART Mediums – Mixed media

Inspired by the work of Eric Carl, this day is all about experimenting with collage. Children will create their own patterned paper to tear and cut and add to the variety of art materials to create their collages. We’ll have games and sensory tuff trays set up for a variety of fun activities between making.

What they’ll get up to:

10am – 10 30am
Make a name badge
After introductions, we’ll be using pastels, cardboard, vinyl and sharpies to spark their creativity.

10 30am – 11 30am
Collage portrait
Using mirrors, children will draw their face outline on cardboard. We’ll then be looking to Picasso for inspiration. Drawing facial features, cutting them out and sticking them together to create their fabulous portraits. This activity always brings laughter!

11 30 – 12 00 SNACK TIME

12 – 1pm
Patchwork houses & dress up characters
Time to make a collage house with fabric, pastels and coloured paper. Children can draw on inspiration from their own homes or be inspired from somewhere they’ve visited. They’ll use the offcuts to create outfits for paper people.

1pm – 1 30pm LUNCH

1:30pm – 2 30pm
Woven Collage Creatures/Plants
Pre-cut cardboard templates will be on offer or they can come up with something completely unique. Buttons, beads, wool and fabric will be used to add character to their creatures.

2 30pm – 3pm
We’ll be bringing all our creatures together for a performance to end off the day of creativity!

What’s Provided:

Art aprons to protect clothing from any messy artistic endeavours.

What to Wear:

We encourage participants to dress comfortably and be prepared for a bit of messiness. However, worry not, as we will provide art aprons to ensure that everyone stays clean and tidy.
