Jewellery Making Holiday Club!

This holiday club is perfect for anyone who loves to bead! We’ll be introducing children to the art of macramé, a new favourite at Goldfinch, where they’ll learn simple knotting techniques to craft beautiful, textured bracelets or necklaces. Throughout the session, they’ll make their own special friendship bracelets using colourful beads and threads, adding personal touches and patterns. We’ll also explore the fascinating world of paper beads, showing how recycled paper can be transformed into unique, eco-friendly jewellery pieces. It’s a relaxing, creative workshop that blends craft, design, and a touch of mindful making.

What they’ll take away:

• Macramé bracelet or necklace
• Handmade paper-beaded bracelet or necklace
• Friendship bracelets

What they’ll get up to:

10am – 10:30am
Make a name badge / art icebreakers. After introductions, we’ll be using pastels, cardboard, vinyl and sharpies to spark their creativity.
Materials: pins, vinyl, sharpies, scissors
Prep: cut cardboard circles, kids can add pins.

10:30am – 11:30am
Macramé rope bracelet/necklace. We’re going to show them how to make their very own fabulous rope bracelets by repeating a super simple braided knot—no tricky steps, just easy and exciting braiding! At the end, we’ll show them how to finish their bracelets with a cool magnetic clasp that snaps together like magic. By the time they’re done, they’ll have a beautiful bracelet, perfect for showing off to friends and family or giving as a special handmade gift!

11:30am – 12pm SNACK TIME

12pm – 1pm
Paper Beaded Jewellery. They will be making colourful jewellery from rolled-up magazines! Paper bead making is a fun and easy craft that transforms their hand-designed paper into beautiful beads. It’s a great way to be creative, reuse materials, and make unique jewellery and decorations. Get ready to turn colourful paper into amazing works of art!

1pm – 1:30pm LUNCH

1:30pm – 3pm
Friendship bracelets. We’ll be offering a selection of bright beads and a variety of accessories for the children to create their own friendship bracelets. Each child will have the chance to design a unique bracelet, threading the colourful beads and charms onto elastic to craft a piece of jewellery that’s both fun and personal. The process of selecting beads and arranging them into patterns also provides a wonderful opportunity for self-expression and sharing, as children swap ideas and admire each other’s creations.

What to Wear:

We encourage participants to dress comfortably and be prepared for a bit of messiness. Not to worry—we provide art aprons to keep everyone as clean as possible.

Lunch and snacks

Bring along a packed lunch, snacks and a water bottle (no nuts please). Alternatively you are welcome to order a Pinkmans lunch box on arrival; it includes a cheese or ham sandwich, raisins and a juice box.
