February Half Term Holiday Art Club: Puppet Making

Main ART Mediums – Card, split pins, fabric and beads.

The kids will spend the day learning how to make a variety of different puppets. Using a variety of exciting art materials, they will develop the skills to create their own puppets! Marionettes, string puppets, finger puppets and more!

What they’ll take away:

• • Lollipop stick puppet
  • Split pin puppets
  • Finger puppets
  • A marionette style puppet

What they’ll get up to:

10am – 10 30am
Make a name badge
After introductions, we’ll be using pastels, cardboard, vinyl and sharpies to spark their creativity.

10 30am – 11 30am
Finger puppets
We’ll teach them how to make simple origami bird finger puppets. Then its time to add colour with our felt tip pens.

11 30am – 12pm SNACK TIME

12pm – 1pm
Marionette style puppets are very popular as their movement makes them come to life. Using cardboard rolls, fabric, string and beads and finally we’ll get the glue guns out to finish off their puppets!

1pm – 1 30pm LUNCH

1 30pm – 2 30pm
Split pin puppets
First they’ll sketch their puppet character ideas and then separate the parts out. We’ll be drawing, cutting and reassembling with split pins to make their limbs move!

2 30pm – 3pm
Lollipop stick puppets
If time allows the children will create simple shadow puppets on card, cut add a lolly stick and decorate!

What’s Provided:

Art aprons to protect clothing from any messy artistic endeavours.

What to Wear:

We encourage participants to dress comfortably and be prepared for a bit of messiness. However, worry not, as we will provide art aprons to ensure that everyone stays clean and tidy.
