February Half Term Holiday Art Club: Mobile Making

Main ART Mediums – Watercolour & Mixed media

Kids will have the day to create their own paper mobiles to take home and hang. They will be experimenting with watercolour and use a variety of decorative accessories to embellish their mobiles, including fabric, tissue paper, string and beads. They’ll develop a narrative and share their stories in an optional performance at the end of the session.

What they’ll take away:

• • Watercolour and mixed media mobile to hang at home
  • Mini collage sketches based on their mobile
  • Pop up mixed media cards
  • A playful performance with their artworks

What they’ll get up to:

10am – 10 30am
Make a name badge
After introductions, we’ll be using pastels, cardboard, vinyl and sharpies to spark their creativity.

10 30am – 11 00am
Rough sketches for mobiles
We’ll be looking at books for inspiration to draw on. Next its time to sketch their mobile characters. We’ll have tracing options too!

11 00am – 11 30am SNACK TIME

11 30am – 1pm
Watercolour Characters
Draw watercolour characters in pencil, use black sharpie to outline. Then we’ll lead them through some watercolour techniques before they start to paint their characters.

1pm – 1 30pm LUNCH

1:30pm – 2 30pm
Make Mobiles
Cut characters, thread beads, add sparkly bits, and see their mobiles take shape!

2 30pm – 3pm
Pop up collage cards
Use coloured paper, watercolour offcuts and tissue paper to create collage cards. We’ll be teaching fun pop out techniques to add another dimension.

What’s Provided:

Art aprons to protect clothing from any messy artistic endeavours.

What to Wear:

We encourage participants to dress comfortably and be prepared for a bit of messiness. However, worry not, as we will provide art aprons to ensure that everyone stays clean and tidy.
