Mini Beasts Construction!
Unleash your inner entomologist! Join our Insect Emporium Workshop and transform everyday recycled materials and scrapstore treasures into amazing insect creations. Perfect for budding bug enthusiasts, this workshop sparks imagination and brings your favourite critters to life. Whether you’re dreaming of dazzling butterflies, cool moths, cute ladybugs or stick insects, we’ll provide plenty of inspiration and guidance to help you craft a unique insect masterpiece.
This workshop is perfect for kids who thrive on creative freedom. With gentle guidance and a helping hand with the glue gun, we empower children to take the lead in their artistic journey, fostering their confidence and igniting their passion for building and creating.

Time: 10am – 3pm

For ages 5 – 10 years
What they’ll take away:

- A carefully crafted recycled insect or insects to take home. It will bring hours of play!
- Bumblebee craft
- Experimenting with 3D art
- Junk modelling challenge
What they’ll get up to:
10am – 10 30am
Make a name badge/art icebreakers
After introductions, we’ll be using pastels, cardboard, vinyl and sharpies to spark their creativity.10 30am – 11 30am
Insect Design
We’ll bring out all our fabulous bug books for inspiration and get drawing! After a quick intro to glue gun safety and tips the kids will start creating their 3D structure with all the exciting materials on offer.11 30am – 12pm SNACK TIME
12pm – 1pm
Bug Building
From the main structure to detail, we’ll spend this hour embellishing our creatures, giving them features that make them move, wings to fly and antennae to explore!1pm – 1 30pm LUNCH
1 30pm – 2pm
Bumblebee Craft
We’ll provide templates for busy bee body parts, along with tape, split pins, and a variety of collage materials, to craft their own unique bees. Each attendee will take home a handmade bee with wings that move—celebrating creativity and the importance of pollinators.2pm – 3pm
Junk Modelling Challenge
We’ll introduce the children to joining techniques without glue guns. Using matchsticks, straws and tape they will create vehicles for their people to travel — from boats, to rafts and buses — it will be up to them to decide what to make.What to Wear:
We encourage participants to dress comfortably and be prepared for a bit of messiness. However, worry not, as we will provide art aprons to ensure that everyone stays clean and tidy.
Lunch and snacks
Bring along a packed lunch, snacks and water bottle, no nuts please. Alternatively you are welcome to order a Pinkmans lunch box when you arrive in the morning; it includes a cheese or ham sandwich, raisins and a juice box.
