Air Dry Clay Sculpture Holiday Art Club for Children Aged 5–10

Session Information

Age Requirement: 5 – 10 years

Date: Wednesday 19th August

Time: 10am – 3pm

Cost: £50 per child (sibling discounts available)

Get ready for a fun and creative holiday art club where children aged 5–10 can explore the wonderful world of sculpture using air dry clay. Throughout the day, children will design and make their own imaginative clay creatures, learn how to form pinch pots, and develop their skills in shaping, joining and decorating clay. They’ll also experiment with wire sculptures and colourful beads, encouraging creativity, fine motor skills and playful self-expression in a relaxed, supportive environment.

What they’ll take away

  • Air dry clay creatures and pinch pot creations
  • Decorated wire sculptures with colourful beads
  • A collection of imaginative clay models and sculpting skills to keep creating at home

What they’ll get up to

10am – 10.30am: Make a Printed Wooden Badge Icebreaker

After introductions, children will design and create their own wearable wooden badge using stencils and acrylic pens. They can personalise their piece with patterns, symbols or initials—something that represents them or could be gifted to a new friend. This gentle, creative activity helps everyone settle in, start conversations and feel part of the group.

10.30am – 11.30am: Air Dry Clay Pinch Pots

Children will learn how to create pinch pots using air dry clay, starting with simple hand-building techniques. By gently shaping the clay with their fingers, they’ll form small bowls and pots, developing control and confidence as they work. They’ll also explore adding textures and patterns using tools and natural materials, making each piece unique and personal.

11.30am – 12pm: Snack Time

12pm – 1pm: Air Dry Clay Creatures

Children will design and make their own imaginative clay creatures. Using basic sculpting techniques, they’ll shape and build their creations, adding features such as eyes, legs, tails and decorative details. They’ll learn how to join different pieces of clay securely and experiment with texture to bring their characters to life.

1pm – 1.30pm: Lunch

1.30pm – 2.30pm: Wire Fish

Children will experiment with wire sculpture using thick, bendable wire that is easy to twist and shape by hand. They’ll explore how to form lines, curves and structures, creating fantastic fish! By threading beads onto the wire, they can add colour, movement and texture to their designs.

2.30pm – 3pm: Time to Play with Wire Sculptures

After creating their sculptures, children will have time to play, explore and interact with their own and each other’s creations. This relaxed 30-minute session allows them to share ideas, collaborate and invent imaginative stories or games using their sculptures, celebrating their work and enjoying the social side of making art together.
