Summer Holiday Half Day Holiday Club

Half a day of sculpture exploration for the younger ones!

Session Information

Age Requirement: 4 – 6 years

Date: Tuesday 18th August

Time: 9 30am – 12pm

Cost: £30 per child (sibling discounts available)

Join us for a fun-filled half-day sculpture workshop designed especially for children aged 4–6 years. Together we’ll explore the exciting world of sculpture using air dry clay and a variety of creative materials.

Children will enjoy squishing, rolling, pinching and shaping clay to create their own imaginative creatures, learning simple clay techniques such as making pinch pots and adding textures and patterns. We’ll also be exploring leaf print into clay! For the second half of the workshop, we’ll take inspiration from the wonders of the seashore as children create their own miniature rock pool sensory tubes. Using a variety of colourful materials, they’ll design a calming underwater scene that captures the magic of a tiny aquarium to take home.

Our workshops are designed to inspire creativity, build confidence and develop fine motor skills through hands-on making and imaginative play in a relaxed, welcoming environment. Every child will leave with their own unique sculptures and plenty of creative pride! We’ve introduced these half-day workshops especially for our younger artists, giving them the chance to enjoy a fun, creative session at a pace that suits them.

What they’ll take away

  • Air dry clay creatures and pinch pot creations
  • Air dry clay leaf prints
  • An aquarium tube and rock pool creations

What they’ll get up to

9 30am – 10am: Warm up wooden decoration

After introductions, children will design and decorate their own wooden hanging decoration using stencils and acrylic pens. They can personalise their piece with colourful patterns, nature-inspired designs, symbols or initials, creating a unique keepsake to hang at home or give as a thoughtful gift to someone special. This gentle, creative activity helps everyone settle in, start conversations and feel part of the group.

10am – 10 45am: Air Dry Clay Pinch Pots and leaf prints

Children will learn how to create a simple pinch pot using air dry clay, exploring the basics of hand-building as they gently shape and smooth the clay with their fingers. They’ll then use beautiful leaves and grasses to press intricate patterns and textures into the surface, discovering how nature can inspire their artwork. Each child will create a unique, nature-inspired pinch pot to take home, celebrating the wonderful shapes and details found in the natural world.

10 45am – 11am: Snack Time

11am – 12pm: Aquarium tube

Children will take inspiration from the fascinating world of rock pools as they create their own miniature aquarium sensory tube. Using water, colourful craft materials, shells, pebbles, sand and ocean-inspired treasures, they’ll carefully layer and assemble their tube to create a magical underwater scene. As they gently shake and watch their miniature rock pool come to life, children will explore colour, movement and texture while creating a calming sensory keepsake to enjoy at home.
