Create and Play this Summer, Whale Sharks!

Dive into a playful, ocean-inspired holiday art club where children will create their own moving whale shark using simple paper construction and pastel techniques. Children will design and decorate their whale sharks using oil pastels, exploring colour, pattern and mark-making to bring their sea creatures to life. Using split pins, they’ll join sections together so their whale sharks can move and “swim,” adding an interactive element to their artwork.

This activity encourages creativity and confidence as children experiment with design, while also introducing simple mechanics in an accessible and engaging way. Alongside the main activity, children will enjoy ocean-inspired sensory trays filled with bubbles, water play and tactile materials, offering a calming and exploratory element to the session. It’s a chance to engage the senses, spark curiosity and extend the underwater theme through play.
This workshop offers a relaxed and supportive space where children can explore, create and enjoy the process. They’ll leave with a colourful, characterful whale shark and a sense of pride in something they’ve made their own.

What to Wear:

We encourage participants to dress comfortably and be prepared for a bit of messiness. However, worry not, we will provide art aprons to ensure that everyone stays clean and tidy.
