What the Day Looks Like
10:00 – 10:30 | Welcome & Warm Up
Children will create their own name badge and ease into the day with creative mark-making using pastels, cardboard, vinyl and Sharpies to spark ideas and build confidence.
10:30 – 11:30 | Watercolour Still Life
We’ll explore how watercolours behave through playful experimentation on A4 paper, creating abstract washes and textures to use later. Then it’s time for a guided still life session, learning about composition, placement and layering colour before framing their finished piece.
11:30 – 12:00 | Snack Break
12:00 – 1:00 | Watercolour Collage
Using their earlier experimental pieces, children will cut, arrange and compose bold collage artworks, discovering how colour and texture work together.
1:00 – 1:30 | Lunch Break
1:30 – 2:00 | Abstract Watercolour Cards
We’ll experiment with string painting, splatter techniques and playful textures to create expressive abstract artworks, which will be folded into handmade cards.
2:00 – 3:00 | Watercolour Creatures
Exploring symmetry and pattern, children will draw insects or imaginative creatures. Using oil pastel resist techniques, they’ll watch their colours pop as watercolour is layered on top. A touch of sequins will add the final sparkle!
