Explore all things Watercolour at our Summer Holiday Art Club!

A day to play with watercolour. From watercolour resist to string and salt, this day will be for kids who love watercolour. We’ll have a draw along to create an animal that will become part of our end of the day group artwork.

5 – 10 years

Dates: Tuesday 5th August
Time: 10am – 3pm
Cost: £50 per child / sibling discounts available

10am – 10 30am
Make a name badge
After introductions, we’ll be using pastels, cardboard, vinyl and sharpies to spark their creativity.

10 30am – 11 30am
Watercolour still life
Get to grips with watercolours, experiment on A4 paper and make abstract paintings to cut up later. Then its time for the still life, there will be objects set up for children to draw. We’ll talk through placement of drawings on your page, let them draw first with pencils, then paint with watercolours. Finally we’ll add a frame!

11 30am – 12pm SNACK TIME

12pm – 1pm
Watercolour collage
Cut up paper from watercolour experimenting and create collage artworks.

1pm – 1 30pm LUNCH

1 30pm – 2pm
Abstract watercolour cards
Children will be introduced to string and splatter techniques with watercolours to create abstract pieces to fold into cards.

2pm – 3pm
Watercolour insect/creature
Introducing symmetry principles, children will draw insects. Then they’ll add pastels and see how watercolour resist techniques allow the pastel colours to pop! Finally they’ll add sequence to embellish their insects.

What to Wear:

We encourage participants to dress comfortably and be prepared for a bit of messiness. However, worry not, as we will provide art aprons to ensure that everyone stays clean and tidy.

Lunch and snacks

Bring along a packed lunch, snacks and water bottle, no nuts please. Alternatively you are welcome to order a Pinkmans lunch box when you arrive in the morning, it includes a cheese or ham sandwich, raisins and a juice box.
