A Wonderful First Term at Henleaze Infant School
Celebrating Summer Through Creativity
Our summer term has been a joyful celebration of everything the season has to offer, with each week exploring a different nature-inspired theme through art. We began by welcoming summer with beautiful flower-inspired crafts, creating delicate lavender collages and sparkling purple wands. The children then celebrated the arrival of the summer solstice by making cheerful sunflower cards using circle stampers and colourful sunshine streamers.Inspired by Nature
Roses took centre stage for several as we explored their colours, textures and scents through mixed-media rose collages and beautiful tissue paper wreaths. The children were fascinated by the incredible life cycle of the caterpillar. They decorated leafy branches using paint sticks before creating fluffy pom-pom caterpillars. Later, they crafted colourful butterflies from threaded pipe cleaners and decorated wooden pegs as they emerged from their chrysalis.Discovering Wildlife
We also explored some of the fascinating snakes and lizards native to the UK. The children created brightly painted paper-chain snakes and colourful spotty lizards. As the term drew to a close, our focus shifted towards the coast. We discovered some of the wonderful creatures found around our shores by decorating fish and creating playful crabs. Old CDs were transformed into shimmering round fish, while recycled cardboard tubes became colourful, ribbon-tailed sea creatures.A Creative Summer Send-Off
For our final week together, we will be celebrating the start of the summer holidays by making colourful kites to fly, fidget spinners to play with and beautiful seashell and starfish crowns.Looking Ahead
