Kids and Teen Art Club Feb/March Paper Mache!
This month the kids have been creating under the themes earth and air, using paper as our focus art material. We begun with paper mache – turning paper into sculpture. Its great to have the time to work on projects which take a few weeks to complete. Kids got messy this month, and it was wonderful to see their initial sketches become realised into sculptural creatures.
From the messy sculpture we moved to mobiles, working with card and scissors the kids are exploring creations that float in the air.
Our Kids art club on Tuesdays and Wednesdays is growing. The 4 – 7 year olds are offered a creative activity each class, and we will always include a few stations that encourage play. This really seems to give them the space they need to develop their ideas. They move from the play stations back to focus on what they are making. This month the kids got stuck in with paper mache, creatures that spring out of a box, cardboard spinners and paper mobiles.
Our teens have moved from lino to paper craft, guided by Sarah Dennis, we’ve seen their confidence grow within this new art medium. Craft knives instead of pens have been used to create a variety of fantastic art works. Next term the teens will be exploring illustration!
