Pop up pictures and a magnet maze
For the final three weeks we continued developing narratives through watercolour and pastels. Experimenting with different resist techniques they created their own pop up mini books. Finally, we’re ending this week with a fun magnet maze. Using the skills and confidence they have developed with watercolour they created magic worlds and haunted houses for their characters to find their way from start to finish!
Take a look at our Holiday Art Clubs next week for 5 – 10 years.

Watercolour Stories - imagination, self confidence and self expression!
Creative flow, everything seemed to align in their artistic exploration with watercolour this term. After a warm up of string print portraits with our new printing press we got straight into creative writing with watercolour! The workshops were designed for the kids to explore creative writing and illustration through mobile making.
Durning this process they came up with their own stories, choosing key characters to paint, decorate and hang. It became a fantastic tool to stimulate their imagination as they developed their very own magical worlds. Developing their narratives promotes independent thinking and they were really eager to share ideas with their classmates. It was fantastic to see them getting stuck in each week, eager to develop their stories. Some of the children developed their own mini books to accompany the mobiles.
Their confidence has really grown this term, which was evident in the eagerness to tell their finished stories.
