Healthy Building
25% of the UK’s greenhouse gas emissions come from the built environment – the construction, running, and demolition of buildings. As Goldfinch is a new building we decided from the start it had to be built with this in mind and so we chose Passivhaus. Passivhaus is synonymous with the best all-season comfort, environmentally green, coupled with the lowest running costs. Clean air and comfortable room temperatures all year round. Not only is PassivHaus good for the environment, it’s good for you too, creating a healthy workshop to create in. There are lots of construction and household products which contain VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) and which ‘off gas’ into the air we breathe, with potential health implications. We’ve tried to use only low- or no-VOC materials in the construction of our cafe.

At Goldfinch our classes are structured around inspiring creativity linked to the natural environment. Think Forest school meets the art class! We are here to teach and learn from each other. We believe reinforcing a connection to nature helps develop children’s imagination.

Our food and drinks are all locally sourced, where possible. We have chosen partners with sustainability at their core, from zero packaging to organic fruit, this is who’ll be supplying your tasty treats and drinks.

Forthay Granola – Breakfast bowls (Yogurt and granola, and bircher muesli). All 100% natural, with no additives, no refined sugar and contain a maximum of 45% jumbo oats and cereals in every bag.
Hobbs House – Freshly baked Croissants
Bosh Kitchens – Supplying tasty cakes and delicious tahini biscuits.
TripleCo – Delicious coffees and hot drinks.
Reusable cups by Huskee – Functional and beautiful products that utilise waste and recycled material to enable the transition to a waste-free world.
Waste
We get most of our art supplies from the Scrapstore, a reuse charity dedicated to helping businesses divert reusable waste away from the landfill. We try as far as possible to select art supplies that are refillable, repurposable, reusable and we’re always on the lookout for more sustainable options.
