Create and Play at Goldfinch, a new art cafe for children and adults in Westbury-on-Trym, Bristol. We’ll give you and your family a space to use your imaginations, connect, and make art inspired by nature, while doing what we can to help take care of the planet.
Goldfinch is a purpose-built café and art space for you and your family to have the freedom to be inspired by nature, create, and connect, without the confines of the traditional café or classroom.
It’s a place where your imagination can roam free. Come and get creative, have fun, and nurture your well-being in a space built to inspire. We offer art classes for children aged 1.5 to 13 within our preschool, afterschool art and yoga sessions, plus a different adult art series every weekday evening. If you are looking for a creative space to host your child’s birthday party we offer that too!
Nicole, creator of Goldfinch began her journey a few years ago with a desire for change – to do something meaningful for others while having the flexibility to nurture her young family. Her interest in people and experience designing play spaces for disadvantaged children in Cape Town were the foundation for an idea for the future: a purpose-built creative space where imaginations are free to flourish
Not long after we arrived in the UK, I watched a Goldfinch flutter into our garden. That little bird, a symbol of well-being, joy, and the natural environment fuelled my imagination and became the face of the next chapter.
Throw in time to think and plan the Goldfinch curriculum with my own children during lockdown, run nature-inspired art classes from my home, and commission our Passivhaus building, and Goldfinch Create and Play has taken flight.
Open Day
Saturday September 9th, 10:00am–4:00pm
To celebrate the much anticipated opening of our doors we are hosting free family creative sessions for the whole family. Join Goldfinch for a sneak peek and a day of making to celebrate the opening of our exciting new creative cafe. We will be open from 10:00am until 4:00pm. Come and take a look around, grab a drink or snack, get to know the creative team and connect with your community.
Goldfinch will be hosting free family creative workshops for children and their families.
If you are in the area, pop in and get making with a variety of recycled containers that you can decorate and take home with your very own pot plant. The sessions run from 11:00am to 12:00pm, 12:30pm-1:30pm, and 2:00pm to 3:00pm.
We’ll provide everything from the Scrapstore, a reuse charity dedicated to helping businesses divert reusable waste from landfills so that establishments like ours and many others can provide art and play opportunities.
Bookings
Book in for a free creative session, 11:00am, 12:30pm, or 2:00pm. Everyone is welcome but booking is essential. Appropriate for children and adults 4+.
Although we will have our team showing you the creative ropes, parents must supervise children at all times. This is not a drop off session.
