Session Information

Age Requirement: 5–10 years

Date: 26th October

Time: 10am–3pm

Cost: £50 per child (sibling discounts available)

Calling all young builders, inventors and Halloween fans! Join us for a wonderfully spooky day of designing, building and creating imaginative Halloween inspired constructions using cardboard, recycled materials and exciting Scrapstore treasures.

Children will design and construct their own haunted house, complete with handmade furniture, mysterious residents and plenty of spooky details. Using low-temperature glue guns, with guidance from our experienced art teachers, they’ll discover how to transform everyday materials into imaginative 3D creations.

They’ll explore how to make their structures stand securely, join different materials together and solve creative building challenges as their ideas take shape. Whether they create a crooked witch’s cottage, a haunted mansion, a ghostly treehouse or a monster’s hideaway, every creation will be completely unique.

This club is perfect for children who love to build, invent and experiment. Along the way, they’ll develop their problem-solving, design-thinking and fine motor skills while enjoying a playful day of Halloween creativity.

What they’ll take away

  • A carefully crafted haunted house filled with handmade furniture and spooky details
  • A hand-painted peg doll witch or wizard to live inside their haunted home
  • Their favourite creation from our junk modelling challenge
  • Lots of new construction skills and creative ideas to continue exploring at home

What they’ll get up to

10am–10.30am: Make a Halloween Bat Badge

We’ll begin the day by getting to know one another while making our own Halloween bat badges. Using cardboard, oil pastels, coloured vinyl and permanent markers, children will create a playful keepsake to wear throughout the day.

This gentle introductory activity gives everyone time to settle in, start conversations and explore colour, shape and simple decorative techniques before we begin our larger construction project.

10.30am–11.30am: Design & Build Your Haunted House

Time to become an architect! Children will begin by sketching ideas for their haunted house using black markers and paper. They might design a crooked witch’s cottage, a mysterious mansion, a ghostly tower or an entirely new Halloween hideaway.

After a short introduction to glue gun safety and some helpful construction tips, they’ll choose from an exciting selection of cardboard, tubes, fabric and recycled materials. They’ll then begin building the walls, floors, roof and structure of their spooky creation.

11.30am–12pm: Snack Time

12pm–1pm: Haunted House Interiors & Details

Children will continue developing their haunted houses by adding all the tiny details that bring them to life. They can create windows, doors, staircases, shelves, furniture, soft furnishings, secret rooms and even miniature haunted gardens.

There will be plenty of unusual and inspiring materials available, encouraging children to experiment with texture, colour and construction techniques. Every haunted house will develop its own story and personality.

1pm–1.30pm: Lunch

1.30pm–2pm: Peg Doll Witches & Wizards

Every haunted house needs its own mysterious resident! Using wooden peg dolls, Posca pens, fabric, felt and wool, children will create a miniature witch or wizard to live inside their new home.

They can add hats, capes, broomsticks, magical accessories and plenty of individual details to give their character a unique personality.

2pm–3pm: Halloween Junk Modelling Challenge

We’ll finish the day with an exciting open-ended junk modelling challenge. Armed with glue guns and a fantastic selection of recycled materials, children will be free to build whatever they can imagine.

They might create a spooky creature, magical vehicle, monster invention, Halloween decoration or something completely unexpected. This playful final session encourages experimentation, independent thinking and creative problem-solving while celebrating every child’s unique ideas.
